Viewing Crosstabs

1: Overview

The main body of the Crosstabs reporting tool contains the applied banners, tables and charts. Tables are generated for all specified questions in the "Table Set" and by the segment criteria specified within the crosstab. Let's go over what you expect to see when your crosstabs are generated.

1. Allows you to jump to any question in the survey by selecting it in this menu

2. Displays a summary of the crosstab.

3. Segment Summary table showing the totals for the defined segments.

4. Displays the totals for the combined segments and for each segment. The totals may be marked with following notations:

    * Indicates small sample size - default is 100

** indicates very small sample size - default is 30

Note: The defaults can be customized with the  rconfcommand.

5. Segment columns applied to the crosstab. Clicking the segment title sorts the table rows ascending / descending and hovering over the segment title will show the raw logic. Additionally, any rows that are not randomized in the survey will also not be randomized when sorting.

6. Each table includes the question title

7. Allows you to view the question of the survey it appears Within (requires  View  access to Survey, and the question que be displayed Within the survey)

8. Flips the data so that the rows are applied to the columns and the rows (requires  Edit  access to Reporting / Crosstabs)

9. The "Total" row displays the total count and percentage for the table

Mark the table as a  favorite

13. Table settings, allowing you to edit the table itself (See:  Editing Tables )

14. Chart settings, allowing you to add / edit charts (See:  Add / Edit Charts )

15. Pin the table to your whiteboard

Automatic Stat-testing is indicated by uppercase letters (95% confidence) and lowercase letters (90% confidence) corresponding to the built-in Segment (ie column) indicators.

1.1: Rating / Scale Questions

By default, statistics are not applied to rating / scale questions, so you will need to add these if you would like them to appear within your tables. To add statistics, click on the "Table Editor" button at the top right of any question table:

Then click on "+ Table Row" to bring up the table row editor:

This is an example of what the editor will look like:

Here you can add statistic rows and apply summary tables as needed. Click  here  for more information on how to use Table and Row Editors.

1.2: Open-ended Questions

Open-ended responses can be viewed by simply clicking on the count for the question or segment. This will open a new window for both text and number questions. You can sort responses by respondent record or alpha-numerically. The "Consolidate Answers" checkbox groups matching responses together and provides a count for the grouped number. There is also the ability to split the open-ended data which will list the responses for each segment.

2: View Options

Additional view options are available via the "View Options" menu in the report setup section:

By default, the Crosstabs "View Options" menu includes the following options:
